Scanning, Printing, and Photocopying Services

Our scanners are free to use for all library visitors and are located in the new section of the building (basement, ground floor, upper floor), as well as on the ground floor of the old section of the building.

Media can only be scanned to a USB stick – please remember to bring your own if you wish to use our scanning services.

Scan Tents – Scan Using Your Smartphone

A scan tent is available in the scanning room of the old section of the building.

It is free to use and simple to operate:

1. Install and open a scanning app of your choice.

2. Place your smartphone on the platform at the top of the scan tent and lay the document you wish to scan inside the tent.

3. Scan the document as specified by the instructions provided by your app.

4. Scan complete!

You can use the scan tents to scan media formats up to A3 in size.

Printing

Printing is only possible at ZEDAT’s PC pools (JK 27), where members of Freie Universität can access and use ZEDAT printers.

A ZEDAT account is required to use the printers.

Please note that the opening hours of ZEDAT PC pools may differ from those of the library.

It is not possible to print on the weekend.

More information can be found on the ZEDAT Print Services webpage (in German)

You will be charged for printing. You can use your CampusCard or MensaCard to top up your account.

Please direct any inquiries regarding opening hours, etc., to the print shop in question.

Let’s Scan Campaign

To promote sustainability, Freie Universität Berlin’s libraries are reorganizing their printing and copying services. This means that steps are being taken to prioritize digital reproduction services over paper-based ones. Digital services are, of course, free for all users. You can find more information here.
