Subject
Due to the digital transformation of scholarship, the management of research data in general and in third-party funded projects in particular is becoming increasingly important. The introductory course will first examine the national context of research data management in the German academic system. What aspects determine the topic of RDM, what are the requirements of research funders in Germany and Europe? Which subject- and data-specific RDM services exist at Freie Universität Berlin and beyond (subject-specific consortia of the National Research Data Infrastructure NFDI, disciplinary repositories such as CrossAsia, Qualiservice, etc.)? Subsequently, the topic of RDM for area studies such as Chinese Studies, Japanese Studies and Korean Studies will be focused on: What are the national requirements regarding RDM in China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan? What needs to be considered in international (third-party funded) research collaborations? Where can I find further information on the topic of RDM in these countries? Which challenges and solutions regarding RDM in non-Latin scripts metadata have to be taken into account?
