The seminar “Linking Multiple Perspectives: Textual Approaches to the Intellectual History of the Islamic World” is aiming at bringing together Doctoral and Post-Doctoral candidates from German universities, working on texts related to the intellectual history of the Islamic World. The workshop is intended to be a platform for sharing challenges in the field of Islamic Studies faced by young scholars.
The goal of the seminar will not only be to learn more about the participants’ projects, but also to find common grounds in terms of methodology, critical practice and perspectives when dealing with texts. Although the focus of the seminar will be on studies related to the pre-modern period, topics on the contemporary Muslim world will also be covered.
Participants present their work in progress giving special emphasis on methodological predicaments. The workshop is funded by the "Center for International Cooperation" at the Freie Universität Berlin and DRS Award for Excellent supervision.
