The Berlin Graduate School of Ancient Studies (BerGSAS), with funding from the Einstein Foundation Berlin (Einstein Foundation Doctoral Program), invites applications for three (3) doctoral scholarships at Freie Universität Berlin and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin for the summer semester 2024, starting 01 March 2024.

Applicants (m/f/d) must hold an outstanding university degree (M.A., M.St., M.Sc., Dipl.) in an Ancient Studies discipline or in a related discipline. The dissertation projects should include a significant digital research component.
Each scholarship is endowed with € 1,468 per month and is initially granted for two years, with an option to extend for a third year after positive evaluation. The call for applications is subject to the provision of funds.

Acceptance of a scholarship is linked to admission to one of the five doctoral programs of the BerGSAS (https://www.berliner-antike-kolleg.org/en/bergsas/programme/index.html), each of which is based on a structured curriculum. The scholarship entails obligatory participation in digital components of the curriculum.
It is recommended to contact the university professor who should be the supervisor of the dissertation in advance. Deadline for applications and procedure:

Applications must be submitted electronically via the BerGSAS portal by 15 September 2023, 24:00 CEST, quoting the reference 2024-BerGSAS-EFDP. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
