On August 10, the jury of the 3. German-Brazilian EdTech Hackathon selected the Green Seed project as the winner. This project uses educational toys and an app to teach children how to dispose of organic waste correctly and how to preserve plant biodiversity. Second and third place went to the projects aiinclusion, which aims to facilitate learning for pupils with disabilities, and E-Braile, which has developed a Braille device with image descriptions.

The hackathon, organized by the FU Berlin, the University of Münster, the TUM and the Goethe-Institut and funded and co-organized by the DWIH São Paulo, selected 43 participants from 200 applications to work on their projects in São Paulo from 8 to 10 August. Green Seed uses a smart toy set and an app to teach children about the correct disposal of organic waste and the conservation of plant biodiversity. The set is made from recyclable materials and is available for both families and schools.

The winning team received a trip and a scholarship for a German course in Germany as well as a cheque for 1,800 euros to cover travel expenses. In addition to the three award-winning projects, six other innovative ideas were presented, which pursued different educational and technological approaches.
