The third and last phase of Global Research Academy kicks off in São Paulo
The trilateral Summer School comes full circle in São Paulo

The interdisciplinary Summer School for PhD students, jointly planned and implemented by Freie Universität Berlin, King's College London and Universidade de São Paulo (USP), entered its final phase on February 27, 2023, hosted at USP.
The ten doctoral students from each of the three universities gathered together at the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics (IME) of USP for the opening act, in which the participants presented the progress of their research projects.
The projects address the following topics:
- Distribution of green spaces in the city;
- Protecting the homeless during extreme temperatures;
- Importance of public participation in the creation and maintenance of urban public spaces;
- Access to water in cities;
- Managing retail food waste;
- Access to green spaces and prosperity, inequalities in cities.
The four-day program in São Paulo includes seminars as well as several field trips in the city center, to the outskirts and an indigenous community. In the coming months, the conduction of the projects and the publication of the papers will follow.
