Parallel to the increase in Brazilian agricultural exports and their economic and political importance, social movements in cities and in rural areas are fighting together for food sovereignty. The Brazilian “hinterland” is increasingly becoming an area that is shaped by old and new social, economic and ecological conflicts. What are the current developments? Which alternatives and new scenarios can be identified? These are the central questions that this panel will deal with.
