Event series: "How exclusive is the university? Critical questions about equality and diversity at German universities"

The series will be held mainly in German and will start on April 27 2022.

News from Apr 13, 2022

The events are intended to open up a space for critical reflection on existing university structures with regard to academics and students with a refugee background, but also to pose the question of how the university generally deals with or should deal with diversity.

Yasemin Karakaşoğlu from the University of Bremen will kick off the event on 27 April 2022 with her lecture "The Curse and Blessing of Academic Humanitarianism: Ambivalent Experiences of Refugee Academics with the German University System".

This will be followed by contributions from Maisha Auma, Denise Bergold-Caldwell and Nirmal Puwar. The series will be moderated by migration and racism researcher Mark Terkessidis.

Except one English event most of the event will be held in German. Some will be translated in German Sign Language (DGS). Find more information about the event series and how to apply here.
