Online Debate: "Watersheds of Internationalization: Academic Travel and the Climate Crisis"

This event hosted by FU Berlin will take place on December 10, 2020.

News from Dec 03, 2020

As the second Lunchtime Debate on HIgher Education this event will focus on the perceived incongruity between academic travel and HEI’s approach towards a more sustainable future. While climate change is coined “the next crisis”, which approach can institutions take to walk the walk and put their sustainability goals into action? Can the need for study abroad, building international networks and advancing university careers on a global scale be reconciled with the goal of reducing our and our institutions’ carbon footprint? Who needs to take the lead and how can we future-proof our universities’ missions?

International experts will share their experiences and examples in a vivid debate. The discussion, moderated by Prof. Verena Blechinger-Talcott, will take place online on December 10, 2020 from 12:30 – 13:30 CET. You can find more detailed information about the event and a registration form here.
