Freie Universität Berlin currently has more than 90 direct exchange programs with universities from all over the world. This includes the exchange of students from our partner universities abroad and our university based on reciprocity. Our partners waive the tuition fees for FU students and some even offer a scholarship for living expenses. Please note that there are universities that require our students to pay for additional fees, such as health insurance or the orientation week. We also advise you to get informed about the additional costs of studying abroad, such as visa or language certificates (TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge) in advance.

Freie Universität has partnerships with the best universities in each respective country. Though we can nominate the students for a direct exchange, our partners have the last say and decide who can study at their university and who will receive a scholarship. This is why Freie Universität has to carefully make sure that our candidates meet the academic and language requirements of our partners.
Please note that only our partners can determine which academic level is appropriate for our students. It may be possible that graduate students (MA) are only allowed take undergraduate courses (BA) at the partner university. We advise you to get informed about this on the websites of our partner universities.
