In July 2017 Dr. Nikolai Bobylev (SPBSU) hosted Dr. Andrea Kölbel (FUB) for the start of a new teaching cooperation. Andrea Kölbel offered a course designed to convey analytical and writing skills for participating successfully in sustainability discourses. The teaching cooperation was funded by the University Alliance for Sustainability and served to strengthen the partnership ties between the Saint Petersburg State University and the Freie Universität Berlin.

The course has proven a great success and the first six participating students and junior researchers have already received certificates for participation. Since the course has met a positive response, joint teaching offers shall continue: in the winter semester 2017/18 two professors from SPBSU will offer block seminars at Freie Universität Berlin. The courses are accredited for the acquisition of the Joint Certificate “Sustainable Development”.
