Professor Elisabeth Kelan is the new Dahlem International Network Professor for Gender Studies in the winter semester of 2017/18.

Elisabeth Kelan is a professor of leadership and the director of Cranfield University’s Global Centre for Gender and Leadership, the leading center for gender and leadership research in the UK. Since completing her PhD in gender studies at the London School of Economics, she has worked at King’s College London and the University of Zürich, and recently held a Mid-Career fellowship of the British Academy. She has published widely on female leadership and gender and “performing gender” at work and has consulted for the United Nations, the Council of Europe and the World Economic Forum, as well as a host of corporations including Allianz, Ernst & Young, Goldman Sachs and KPMG. Her work has been honored with a number of international awards, most recently the Leadership Award for the Most Influential Leadership (2016) and the Global Diversity Leadership Award at the World HRD Congress earlier this year.

Based at the School of Business & Economics at Freie Universität Berlin for the winter semester 2017-18, Elisabeth Kelan will collaborate with researchers on the EU project “BOARDEQUALITY” and on the DFG Research Unit “Organized Creativity”, where she will help to develop gender-related research insights into the role of gender in creativity and the governance of creative processes in the arts and sciences. During her stay she will teach a weekly seminar on Gender and Diversity for the BSc in Business Administration which will culminate in a series of small student research projects.

Her inaugural lecture on the topic of “Men, Gender Euality and Organizational Change” will take place on November 8th, 2017 at 6 pm at the School of Business & Economics, R102, Garystraße 21, 14195 Berlin.
