von Daniels, Detlef

Instructor

Dr. von Daniels studied Philosophy, History of Art, and Public Law in Frankfurt, Vienna, and Freiburg and received his doctorate in philosophy from the University of Göttingen. He held postdoctoral fellowships at the Max Weber Centre for Advanced Studies in Erfurt, the Mahindra Humanities Center at Harvard and coordinated two interdisciplinary research groups in Berlin. He is interested in the intersections between law and philosophy in current theorizing and the history of ideas. He is the author of „The Concept of Law from a Transnational Perspective“ and has published articles on transnational legal theory, Kantian political philosophy, and the impact of classical ideas on current debates in political theory. Apart from his academic interests, he is an ardent Berliner, can frequently be seen with his two kids at splendid playgrounds and (sporadically) at cultural events or the Berlin Tango scene.
