Freie Universität Berlin Organizes Alumni Meeting in New Delhi

Former Students and Graduates Attend Meeting

№ 323/2012 from Oct 25, 2012

On October 26, 2012, Freie Universität Berlin’s Liaison Office in New Delhi is holding its second meeting for Indian alumni. Approximately 50 are expected to attend. The event will focus on a political science theme, “Asian Perceptions of the EU.” One lecture on the topic will be given by Professor Dr. Ummu Salma Bava, who has been associated with Freie Universität for the past 20 years. In 2011 she was awarded the German Federal Cross of Merit in recognition of her contributions to German-Indian partnership.

Other talks will be given by the vice president of the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG), Professor Dr. Dorothea Wagner; the vice president of Freie Universität Berlin, Professor Dr. Brigitta Schütt; and other scholars from India and Germany.

Last year Freie Universität’s Liaison Office in New Delhi started holding annual alumni meetings with a thematic focus for former students and researchers. Many Indian alumni have influential positions in academia, business, and politics. It is thought that they can play a role in expanding Freie Universität’s international networks. By holding the alumni meetings, Freie Universität aims to maintain contact with its alumni, facilitate the exchange of information, and create new opportunities for its students.
