The United States Senator Bernard Sanders, who ran in the primaries of the United States presidential election in 2016, stopped at Freie Universität to talk about his ideas and his book Our Revolution, which was just published in German (Unsere Revolution, Ullstein Verlag).

He was enthusiastically received by a crowd consisting mainly of students, and his words were often interrupted by wild applause.

The setting had historic connotations, as President John F. Kennedy gave an important speech in June 1963 just outside the auditorium where Sanders spoke.
