The "Plant Sciences" graduate program offers doctoral students advanced education in plant sciences. The building of the Institute of Plant Physiology, Königin-Luise-Straße. The Inorganic Chemistry building in the Institute of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Fabeckstrasse 34-36. The Institute of Pharmacy has two locations. The disciplines of pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, and pharmaceutical biology are in the building on Königin-Luise-Straße 2-4. The older brick building on Albrecht-Thaer-Weg 6 houses Applied Genetics. The Dahlem Centre of Plant Sciences (DCPS) is one of the Focus Areas ofr Freie Universität Berlin. The Institute of Pharmacy at Freie Universität is the largest pharmaceutical training facility in Germany. The Botanic Garden at Freie Universität Berlin has one of the greatest variety of plant species in the world. The molecular structure of organisms is one thing being investigated at the Institute of Chemistry and Biochemistry. The disciplines of organic chemistry and physical and theoretical chemistry of the Institute of Chemistry and Biochemistry are located at Takustrasse 3. The Dahlem Centre of Plant Sciences is one of the Focus Areas of Freie Universität Berlin.

At a Glance

At the Department of Biology, Chemistry, and Pharmacy special emphasis is put on the life sciences. Its three institutes are linked with numerous non-university research facilities and offer excellent training and career opportunities.

The Institute of Biology specializes primarily in molecular botany, microbiology, neurobiology, ecological processes, and animal and plant evolution and biodiversity in all its different expressions.

The main fields of research of the Institute of Chemistry and Biochemistry are structural formation, function and chemical reactivity, stereoselective and macromolecular synthesis, molecular and medical biochemistry, and structural biochemistry.

The Institute of Pharmacy of Freie Universität Berlin is the largest pharmaceutical training facility in Germany.Teaching and research are carried out in the fields of pharmaceutical biology, pharmaceutical chemistry, clinical pharmacy, pharmacology, and pharmaceutical technology.
