The library system of Freie Universität Berlin comprises the University Library (UB) and around forty departmental libraries with total holdings of around 8 million printed items, 38,000 e-journals, 400,000 e-books, and 1300 databases.
Primo provides a single point of access to the entire spectrum of the university's collections and library resources, including 100 million full-text articles.
The Digital Library contains the university's licensed e-resources as well as free reviewed ones that are of scholarly value. It offers simultaneous searches of several databases (Quicksets).
Freie Universität Berlin offers its students two different reference management software packages, EndNote and Citavi, free of charge. Other members of the university can buy licenses for the software at a reduced rate from ZEDAT.
The University Library and several departmental libraries offer introductory tours and a range of courses, for example, on using the library, searching for resources, using the Library Portal (with Primo), and how to manage references (EndNote and Citavi software).
