Mixed Feelings – Shared Feelings. Narratives of Belonging in Contemporary Transcultural German-language Literature

The project sets out to analyse contemporary German-language literary texts as privileged spaces for the presentation and performative production of affective relationality as well as the reflection on these intertwined processes. The dynamics of multilingualism and multiple belonging, which locate literature in social life, are constitutive for the project. In this context Bakhtin’s concept of dialogism offers an especially fruitful perspective on questions of genre and narration. The aim of the project is to enquire into the specific role of transcultural literature in affective societies and to develop a poetics of polyphony.
