Facilities Overview

Max Kade Auditorium

The Max Kade Foundation donated 600,000 U.S. dollars toward the rehabilitation of the building complex. The main auditorium has therefore been given the name Max Kade Auditorium. It has seats for about 1,200 guests and is thus the largest room of the Henry Ford Building.

Lecture Halls

The Henry Ford Building has a total of four lecture halls – two on the ground floor and two on the second floor – with space for 226 to 350 people.

Conference Rooms

On the second floor of the Henry Ford Building there are several small conference rooms in which, among other things, worldwide videoconferencing can be implemented. The Senate Assembly Hall, used regularly by the Academic Senate of Freie Universität, has 41 seats and is the largest of the conference rooms.

Lobbies and Cloakroom Areas

Two lobbies, one on the ground floor (ca. 800 m²) and one on the second floor (ca. 500 m²), provide ample space for exhibitions and catering. In the balcony lobby on the second floor there is a permanent exhibition, "Future from the Very Beginning." The room bears the name Otto H. Hess Balcony, after one of the editors of the student magazine "Colloquium."
