In January 1949, just a few weeks after Freie Universität Berlin was founded, the university formed a committee to establish relationships with partner institutions abroad. From the very start Freie Universität wanted to enrich the quality of research and teaching by promoting the exchange of international perspectives, participation in shared research projects, and opportunities for students and researchers to spend time abroad. Today, seventy-five years later, we still believe in the transformative power of international collaboration. One way that we have demonstrated this recently has been in the form of our “Team Global” – for two years in a row the biggest team represented at the Campus Run. This is a tradition that we would like to continue in 2024, our anniversary year. We want to set an example by promoting internationalization; solidarity across all kinds of borders, both geographic and cultural; and peaceful cooperation – things that are more important than ever in the current climate.  

Let’s harness the power of sports to bring people together and celebrate internationality at the 2024 Campus Run as “Team Global”!   So what does that mean? When you sign up for the Campus Run, you have the option to enter a team name. You are more than welcome to join our team! In case you needed any more incentive to take part, everyone who joins us in the race will receive an exclusive team shirt, a group photo, the support of a dedicated cheer squad, and of course the unforgettable experience of being part of a fantastic community.
