The successful applicant will cover the full breadth of the field in research and teaching with a focus on the Early Modern period within the European context.
Appointment requirements are governed by Article 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz).
The successful candidate should have an excellent record of international research and teaching relevant to the position. Their work in the field should also include a focus on literary criticism and cultural theory. We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with concepts and methods of digitality.The new professor should also be able to demonstrate experience in acquiring and leading externally funded research projects.
Along with the regular official duties of professors listed in Article 99 of the Berlin Higher Education Act, we expect the appointee to engage in the following activities:
The scope of the professorship includes working with the Friedrich Schlegel Graduate School of Literary Studies. The successful applicant will also participate in activities associated with the Cluster of Excellence “Temporal Communities,” as well as actively contribute to establishing and/or supporting future research collaborations, for example, DFG Collaborative Research Centers (SFBs) or DFG Research Units. The new professor is expected to teach bachelor’s and master’s courses in the field of German language and literature and help to further develop these degree programs.The new professor will also be expected to address gender and diversity issues in their research and teaching.
