The Hopkinson group works in the area of organic chemistry with a focus on developing new reaction methodologies for the preparation of valuable compounds. Particular areas of focus are organofluorine chemistry, photochemistry and organocatalysis.
English: The candidate will undertake research in organic chemistry as part of the DFG Collaborative Research Centre 1349 “Fluorine-Specific Interactions” with the goal of developing new C-F activation reactions. The project encompasses aspects of organofluorine chemistry and photocatalysis. Day to day activities will include designing, conducting and analysing experiments, purifying organic molecules and characterising new compounds.
Master or Diplom degree in Chemistry
Excellent grades in chemistry studies. Solid knowledge in the area of organic synthesis, fluorine chemistry and photochemistry. Laboratory experience in preparative organic chemistry, especially in organofluorine chemistry and photochemistry. Experience applying common analysis methods (NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry). Very good command of spoken and written English. The candidate should have excellent organisational skills and teamwork, be willing to take on new tasks and work flexibly and responsibly.
