Abstract: In an authoritarian age, internationalization, as a driving force of reform, also confronts modern universities with a range of challenges. How can universities take action when the freedom of teaching and research is being infringed upon at partner universities abroad? How can the promises of international exchange be realized when certain subjects become a taboo or even criminalized? And which forms of cooperation are especially useful to live up to the principles of Libertas, Veritas and Justitia on an international level?
