The German-American Fulbright program was originally developed by Senator J. Wiliam Fulbright, whose intention was to promote mutual bilateral understanding on an academic and bicultural level.
Approximately 400 scholarships are awarded to German graduates, PhD, teachers and administrative staff each year. Scholarships include full/partial scholarships and travel grants.
If you are planning on studying for 4-9 months as a graduate student at an US university in the 2020/2021 academic year, you can now apply for a grant from the Fulbright Commission. Fellows receive up to $34,500 and Fulbright Network membership. The application deadline is August 5th, 2019. Applications must be submitted to the Fulbright Commission directly!
Students and graduates of all subjects that would like to study one or two semesters at an American graduate school. Selection criteria are good professional achievements, social commitment, and the willingness to work in the field of transatlantic relations. Undergraduate applicants must have successfully completed at least 6 semesters.
The scholarship provides up to $34,500 in financial support for a 9 month study period and the inclusion in the global Fulbright network. Shorter study periods will receive proportionate scholarship grant.

In the first selection round, applications are assessed by an independent jury. In the second round, applicants will be invited to group interviews which take place in Berlin in mid-November 2019. At the end of November, we will inform all applicants about the application outcome.
