After Returning

During your Erasmus+ stay abroad, you will remain enrolled at the FU, i.e. your semesters will continue to be counted. If you take a leave of absence for the duration of your stay abroad, only the university semesters will continue to be counted, so that you do not lose any time and can still complete your studies in the standard period of study.

The relevant examination board of the department in which you are studying decides on the recognition and crediting of academic achievements gained abroad. Each department/subject/study program has an office responsible for questions regarding the recognition of academic achievements gained abroad (usually "Prüfungsbüro").

The new guidelines of the European Commission, which have been published in the ECTS Guide, have been in force since 2009 for the transfer of grades of study credits earned abroad. You can find the ECTS Guide here. Further information from the European Commission on ECTS can be found here.

Most partner universities provide information on their grading system and conversion with the final Transcript of Records, which you can use as a guide. It is best to discuss in advance with the Erasmus coordinator of your department how many ECTS the courses you attended from abroad are worth.

Upon completion of your study abroad program, we require the following final documents from you: The original Confirmation of Stay issued by the host university, a detailed experience report as a printout as well as uploaded as a file to our website, a copy of your Transcript of Records, Part 3 of the Learning Agreement (After the Mobility), any missing enrollment certificates, and the online report via the EU's Mobility Tool Plus. An overview of the documents to be submitted can be found here.
