Great Opportunity for PhD Students: Call for Contributions

Apply now for PhD Workshop on 2-3 April 2020. Deadline: February 25th, 2020.

News from Feb 13, 2020

Within the framework of our annual Spring Campus Conference we will offer two parallel workshops which will take place from 2-3 April 2020 at Freie Universität Berlin:

PhD Workshop I: “Unlocking and Transitioning – Strategies and Policies for a Sustainable World” organized by Prof. Kurt Hübner (University of British Columbia)

The topics covered in the workshop are diverse and include factors that drive disputes and social conflicts over adequate unlocking strategies; the political strategies that actors employ to influence political outcomes, such as coalition building, narrative framing contests, and lobbying; the negotiation or collaboration strategies that are used to address political debates; and determinants of policy choice.

PhD Workshop II: “Sustainable Development Research – an Interdisciplinary Chance or Challenge?” organized by PD Dr. Berthold Kuhn (Freie Universität Berlin)

Through the workshop, participants develop a broader understanding of interdisciplinary research collaborations in the field of sustainable development. Rather than presenting general overviews of sustainable development research, the workshop is interested in topical areas of individual dissertations, which should be reviewed in light of the 17 SDGs.

PhD candidates specializing in sustainability-related research are invited to apply.

Abstracts (max. 500 words) outlining the aims and methods of individual papers should be sent to by February 25, 2020. Please state your name, research topic, affiliation and full contact details.

This great opportunity also includes (partial) funding for PhD students from partner universities of the UNA-Europa network and the University Alliance for Sustainability. Interested applicants from UNA Europa partner universities find more information on funding here. PhD students from UAS partner universities find the funding opportunities in the respective PhD Workshop Calls.
