It’s getting cozy!

Some of you might have already noticed the green couch named Union in front of the Mensa II, accompanied by John, the drawer and Eberhard, the sophisticated vintage lamp.

Starting today, the place in front of Mensa II has turned partly into a living room of second hand furniture that will keep growing in the coming days. All of this is part of the BSR (Berliner Stadtreinigung) campaign, supported by the Sustainability & Energy Management Unit and the sustainability initiative SUSTAIN IT!, and will take place until June 22, 2018.

What’s going on?

The BSR has established the Give-away and Exchange Market to support and promote waste reduction. Freie Universität Berlin is proud to be the first cooperation partner in this movement that aims to spread awareness on waste and consumption.

No worries! You can even get it for free - with a tiny bit of luck in our tombola. Under the headline Ist das Müll oder kann das weg? (Is this waste – or can I throw this away?), this year’s university days of SUSTAIN IT! are all about sustainable lifestyles, consumption, waste management and recycling. On Wednesday, June 20, the lots are drawn and you have the chance to take your favorite piece of furniture home! The tombola starts Monday, June 18. We’re looking forward to you!
