Research at the Institute of Food Safety and Hygiene in the Department of Veterinary Medicine focuses on food microbiology. Researchers study how to isolate and characterize viral agents in order to reduce the risk of infectious diseases in humans. They also develop strategies to fight certain infectious diseases within the food chain and to find possible measures of optimization and intervention.
