This semester the sustainability initiative SUSTAIN IT! is hosting a lecture series on the issue of ecological and climatic crises and possibilities to transform the society into a more social and ecological-friendly one. The lecture series will be structured into three blocks:
The first lectures will try to provide an understanding for varieties of ecological crises and further deal with the question, why society is not changing even though a basic awareness for crises already exists.
In the next part, the lecturers will discuss concrete pathways for transformation while taking limited resources and planetary boundaries into account.
The last lectures held will then examine in how far previously introduces pathways are really implementable in today’s society and how current tendencies of transformation look like in areas of energy, mobility, agriculture, and care.
This Tuesday (18th October 2016), Prof. Dr. Markus Wissen will start the lecture series with a talk under the title “Ecological Crisis – A Problem of Humanity or a social Question?”.
