From March 25 -27 Freie Universität Berlin hosted the 5th UGAF Workshop and was delighted to welcome 80 guests from 16 countries, more than 34 different universities and 10 other scientific institutions.
As an international network university with about 33,000 students, more than 200 buildings and 4,200 staff members, all aspects of sustainability are relevant to our university, be it in research, education or campus management. Members of the UNICA Network involved in the UGAF (UNICA Green Academic Footprint) initiative have taken on the challenge of engaging actively in the field of sustainability by applying holistic and participatory approaches. Both of these approaches have been at the heart of the 5th UGAF Workshop. Key questions posed within this context were: How can management processes and the need for participation be combined in the field of sustainability? How can participation methods be applied successfully? How can internal and external stakeholders be engaged effectively in higher education institutions?
The 5th UGAF Workshop served as a platform to share experiences and good practices. To this end you find the documentation of the complete conference in the download area.
