Project Summary:

Mediators and mechanisms of Nutritionfor healthy muscle Ageing (MenuAge)

Ageing often leads to loss of skeletal muscle mass (sarcopenia), associated with higher morbidity and lower quality of life. While some risk factors are well known, the underlying mechanisms are highly complex and poorly understood. Seeking to gain further insight, we aim to establish an interdisciplinary research consortium combining cell and stem cell-based approaches, animal models as well as human cohorts and clinical studies to identify novel mediators and mechanisms of healthy muscle ageing and to evolve novel nutritional strategies to fight age-dependent sarcopenia.
