Integrated Research Training Group of SFB 852: Biology of Nutrition
Research Focus
The Collaborative Research Center „Nutrition and intestinal microbiota – host interaction in the pig“ investigates the interactions between nutritional factors, the intestinal flora and the host organism, and the resulting consequences for pig health employing innovative, experimental, analytical and biostatistitical methods. Special focus is laid on effects of food additives and particularly on mechanistic studies on effects of probiotics and trace elements.
The integrative concept of the Collaborative Research Center enables a profund characterisation of the intestinal microbiota and their metabolic activity as well as the reaction of the host organism and the mutual interaction.
Interdisciplinary project areas: Investigation of the intestinal microbiota and description of physiological and pathophysiological processes within the gastrointestinal tract.
