What kind of obligations do I have if I accept the scholarship?
Scholarship recipients are required to help ensure that the scholarship program can be carried out according to regulations.
1. In order to do so, they must report any changes in their personal situation that might apply to their scholarship eligibility. Changes should be reported immediately to the Deutschlandstipendium office at Freie Universität Berlin (StipG Section 10 paragraph 2, in German).
Important changes to your personal situation might include:
- Changes to your student status or choice of degree program (change of department, leave of absence, graduation or early termination, etc.)
- Study abroad trips (including the specific period, location, and whether you are receiving other financial support)
- Change of address or other contact information
- Changes to your bank details
- Information regarding any other merit-based financial support you might be receiving if it amounts to more than 30 euros per month (e.g. acceptance into one of the scholarship programs for gifted students)
2. They must also share with Freie Universität Berlin any information required for reporting to the German federal government (see StipG Section 13 paragraph 2, in German).
3. They must also take part in an anual performance review.
