Is the university approving official travel abroad for research, study, or other university business?
Thanks to recent positive developments concerning efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent changes in health and safety policies, official travel will be possible again starting July 5, 2020, provided that no new restrictive precautions become necessary in the meantime. Approval of official travel requests, however, still depends on the German Federal Foreign Office’s travel warnings and general advisories (in German). If there is a travel warning for the country you plan to visit, your official travel request will not be approved.
We would also like you to ask yourself the following questions before submitting your official travel request:
- Can I conduct my business using other modes of communication, for example, a virtual meeting, instead of traveling in person?
- Is it objectively possible to adhere to the health and safety measures still in place as well as whatever policies might be in force at your destination?
One good alternative might be the audio and video conferencing technology that Freie Universität has available (information in German).
If you are an employee and have work-related questions (for example, about official travel), please send an email to email@example.com.
Students with questions about study abroad should contact Division IV International Affairs at firstname.lastname@example.org.
