On 20 February 2019, the 5th international conference of the Joint Programming Initiative “A Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life” will take place in Brussels under the theme “Diet as Leverage Point Towards a Healthy and Sustainable Food System”.
The objective of JPI HDHL is to improve the impact of Research and Innovation (R&I) investments in food, nutrition, health and physical activity to counter the increasing burden of diet-related non-communicable diseases. Since there is a lot we do not know yet about the relation between diet and health, research and innovation efforts in close collaboration with policy are needed to fill these knowledge gaps. This is why the Joint Programming Initiatives support EU Member States in pooling their ressearch efforts and coordinating their national activities. Although the application is made with European partners, the proposal has to be submitted to the responsible national agencies.
Next to several keynote speeches and panel discussions, the conference will also offer interactive workshops with stakeholders and experts of the concerned areas. Amongst others, the following issues will be addressed:
