On the evening of July 2, 2018, Berlin's Liaison Office to the EU in cooperation with the European Region Research Network (ERRIN) organizes the launch event of the conference "The Road to War for Peace, More Democracy and European Integration, War Architecture, Places and Memories as a Part of European Heritage and History".
The events take place against the background of the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War and are part of the official programme for the European Year of Cultural Heritage.
Scientists of FU Berlin will present the research project "1914-1918-online: International Encyclopedia of the First World War" on the evening of July 2nd. This will be followed by a panel discussion on the causes and consequences of the First World War as well as the challenges of a European approach to the commemoration of the wars and a better integration of the youth into this discourse.
The event takes place at the invitation of the Berlin Senator for Culture and Europe Dr. Klaus Lederer, who will discuss these questions together with Prof. Dr. Christopher Clark of the University of Cambridge and Prof. Dr. Oliver Janz from FU Berlin.
