Ernst Reuter Day 2019
Once again, the festivities on the occasion of the founding anniversary of Freie Universität on December 4 offered many highlights.
For their outstanding dissertations, five doctoral students from Freie Universität were honored with the Ernst Reuter Prize donated by the Ernst Reuter Association. Professor Hermann Kreutzmann, chairman of the award committee, introduced the winners and the respective topics of their dissertations to the audience in his laudatory speech. Furthermore, Professor Wendy Shaw and Professor Stefan Rinke each received the Dahlem Research School's Award for Excellent Supervision.
Prof. Dr. Günter M. Ziegler, president of Freie Universität, opened the subsequent ceremony and used the opportunity for a small review of the year. Berlin's Governing Mayor and Senator for Science and Research, Michael Müller, congratulated Freie Universität in a short welcome speech, followed by the ceremonial speech "Divided Freedom" by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Dan Diner, Professor of History at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
At the reception, all guests - laureates, alumni and alumnae, friends and members of Freie Universität and the Ernst Reuter Association - had the opportunity for exchanging the impressions they got from that day.
