Freie Universität celebrates its 70th anniversary and as a special birthday present we invite you to get to know the university and its eventful history a little better.
During the tour "70 Years of Freie Universität," we will tell you about the dramatic first years after the founding of the university in the midst of the Cold War, about the first lectures during the Berlin Airlift, and about the visit of the American President John F. Kennedy, whose voice will once again be heard in front of the Henry Ford Building. We recall great scientists, but also the long shadows of the German past and explain the challenges facing the university today. Of course, we will also lead you to the latest expansions of Freie Universität and show you the spectacular Philological Library of Lord Norman Foster, who also designed the new Reichstag dome.
Participation is free of charge, but registration is required (maximum 20 participants, the order of registration determines participation). After registration you will receive a confirmation by e-mail with further information. Please note that the tour will be in german.
The tours last about 90 minutes and are carried out on foot, the running distance is about 3 kilometers.
