AiS Mentors

Academics in Solidarity collaborates with mentors from renowned German and Arab higher education and research institutions. Mentors act on a voluntary basis and may represent all academic disciplines. Besides introducing their mentees into a new academic landscape and serving as regular dialog partners, mentors provide the following services:

  • academic counseling
  • administrative support (e.g., access to data bases, libraries, or archives)
  • advice on academic career opportunities
  • identification of suitable funding options
  • network building

Academics in Solidarity offers its mentors special training as well as administrative and technical support both prior to and throughout the mentoring process. Furthermore, mentors will get the chance to exchange ideas and experiences with other mentors at annual network meetings.

As a mentor you benefit from:

  • sharing your experiences with young, international scholars specializing in your field
  • broadening your professional network
  • targeted training in mentoring technics, dialog facilitation, leadership skills and intercultural competencies
  • opportunities for individual coaching in collaborative research project planning in tandem with a mentee
  • the possibility of receiving small grants for organizing workshops in cooperation with mentees
  • reflecting on your career and getting new ideas for your own work

If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please fill out this registration form and send it together with your academic CV to ais@fu-berlin.de.
