Vijayalakshmi, one of the latest FUBiS Santander scholarship holders from Hyderabad, India, is telling us about her experience with FUBiS.
Hello, I'm Vijayalakshmi, a 20-year-old in the third year of my integrated masters in Political Science at the University of Hyderabad, India. One fun fact about me is I can speak 5 languages: English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.
The Santander scholarship was offered to a few students of the University of Hyderabad through Freie Universität Berlin. I applied and it was an absolute privilege to have been fortunate enough to receive the scholarship. I chose to participate in a course titled "Economic Ethics: Can the Market be Moral?". The course outline was very intriguing. For instance, it helps one develop ethical frames of reference, which allow them to identify and tackle ethical dilemmas posed by today's economy. Parenthetically, it offered a chance for the students to apply and experiment with them in a simulation game.
I still remember how the entire crew gave a warm welcome to all of us. The team at FUBiS did their best to make us feel we were in Berlin! It was amazing to have been a part of such a wonderful family. The best part of being at FUBiS was the rich cultural and intellectual exchanges I had with my classmates and the course instructor who hailed from different corners of the world, both during and outside class hours.
I would definitely recommend it to my friends and other students. It is a brilliant opportunity to be guided by top-notch faculty and have qualitative discussions with well-informed peers. The learning experience, both academic and non-academic, is just worth it. Apart from being enriched by the course I participated in, I took home many memories and friendships to cherish.
FUBiS is an intensive academic program of Freie Universität Berlin through which students can earn credits that may be counted towards their degrees at their home institutions. Every year FUBiS offers more than 60 courses - both subject and German classes.
