Christina Rogers will take over as project director in June 2021 and is the new face of Academics in Solidarity (AiS).  She studied Cultural Studies at Humboldt University Berlin and University of Bremen with a year abroad at Goldsmiths University of London in Visual Culture. Afterwards she was a research assistant at the ERC project "The Principle of Disruption" at the Technical University of Dresden. Her PhD on digital borders and European migration policies relates to this project. Her main research interests are critical migration and border regime studies and (feminist) science & technology studies. In recent years, she has worked as an editor of English-language academic articles and as a lecturer in civic education.

Dr. Vera Axyonova, who has been leading the project so far, is going back to research at the University of Vienna, but will remain connected to the AiS project as a mentor and multiplier.

Academics in Solidarity is a peer-mentoring program that connects exiled researchers and established scholars in Germany, Lebanon and Jordan. It seeks to create a network of solidarity, strengthen the value of cross-cultural research cooperation and open up new perspectives within the academic environment of the host country.
