Bogotá: FU Berlin informs about research in Germany
May 24, 2019
On 9 May, a workshop was held in Bogotá to enable Colombian researchers to learn about opportunities for doctoral and postdoctoral research in Germany. The workshop, which was the first such event to be held in Colombia and was organized by the Liaison Offices of the Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin) and Technical University of Munich (TUM) took place at Universidad de los Andes (Uniandes) and was supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
Approximately 85 attendees listened with great interest to the presentations by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the DFG, and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, which each presented their funding programs. FU Berlin and TUM also presented their research profiles, after which Colombian researchers spoke about their experiences and the challenges of their research visits to Germany. After the presentations there was time for individual discussions and questions.
The workshop was held just prior to the regional DAAD alumni meeting, which took place on 10 - 12 May and brought together a large number of researchers from Colombia, Ecuador, Cuba, Peru, Mexico and Venezuela in Bogotá.
