One important instrument used to enhance research performance, and with it the university’s competitive standing, is internal promotion of research. Under the direction of members of the Research Committee (FK), this approach constitutes a strategic control mechanism within the university. The Research Commission allocates funding to promote internal university research.
The aim of the Commission for the Promotion of Young Women Scholars (Kommission zur Förderung von Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen, KFN) is to support the participation of women in research and teaching activities. It concentrates on measures aimed at granting women the qualifications they need to become professors.
