The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin /SMB (National Museums in Berlin) are the largest complex of museums in Europe in comprising fifteen museums with various collections in five main locations (Museumsinsel, Kulturforum, Charlottenburg, Dahlem, Köpenick), several research institutes and supporting facilities. The complex on the Museumsinsel (Museum Island) is listed by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
The Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden /SKD (Dresden State Art Collections), emerged from the Royal Collections of Art and Science, belong to the most renowned and oldest museum institutions in the world. They comprise apart from other institutions twelve museums. Most of them are located in the Residenzschloss (Dresden Royal Palace), the world-famous Zwinger and the Albertinum.
The Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen /BStGS (Bavarian State Painting Collections) are custodian of a large number of paintings and art in the possession of the Free State of Bavaria. They encompass a number of the larger galleries and museums in Munich (Alte Pinakothek, Neue Pinakothek, Pinakothek der Moderne, Museum Brandhorst, Sammlung Schack) as well as fourteen associated galleries throughout Bavaria.

The Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft /HTW Berlin (University of Applied Sciences) is the largest university of applied sciences in Berlin and one of Germany's top ten universities of applied sciences with an impressive range of study programmes in five different departments spanning field from engineering, computer science and economics, to culture and design. The HTW is the only university in Germany that offers studies in the restoration of technical cultural objects, and field archaeology.
The National Museum of China (NMC) was established in 2003 by the merging of two separate museums, the former National Museum of Chinese History (est. in 1912) and the National Museum of Chinese Revolution (est. in 1950). Today the NMC is the largest museum in the world (nearly 200.00 sqm) with fourty-eight galleries and more than one million objects.
