The workshop focuses on the effective preparation and design of resumes/CVs and cover letters as well as the skilled answering of job interview questions. The workshop is not merely informative: It provides participants opportunities to put their newly-acquired knowledge into practice. First, participants are tested on their understanding of the job-application process, then they are given guidelines for mastering the application process, and finally participants put the newly-gained understanding to the test through exercises on designing resumes and cover letters then practicing critical aspects of a job interview.

The job application process requires self-assessment, networking, and comprehension of what is required of the applicant to be successful. The principle of effectively demonstrating one's qualifications as quickly and clearly in the written documents – the resume and the cover letter – as well as the job interview is explained in detail. The principle in operation in all phases of the application process is to evoke a strong, positive first impression. The workshop thereby enables the audience to comprehend quickly how to navigate their way throughout the job-application process effectively.
