Die Joint Technology Initiative "Electronic Components and Systems for European Leadership" (ECSEL) hat einen Aufruf zur Einreichung von Projektanträgen für Forschungs- und Innovationsaktivitäten sowie einen Aufruf zur Einreichung von Projektanträgen für Innovationsaktivitäten veröffentlicht. Beide Aufrufe sind offen für alle Themen des Multi-Annual Strategic Plan. Im Bereich Gesundheit hat dieser das Thema "Smart Health" mit folgenden Schwerpunkten:

• Home Healthcare: Prevent institutionalization, both for the healthy, elderly, impaired, and people with chronic diseases, by providing healthcare support in an individual's typical environment (home, community, and/or workplace) and information on environmental factors affecting health (e.g. air pollution and allergens)
• Hospital Healthcare: Reduce time and costs associated with hospitalization
• Heuristic Healthcare: Increase the speed of pharmaceutical development and biomarker analysis.
