The office in Moscow is a service facility that offers information to members of the Freie Universität Berlin community as well as to students, scholars, and scientists from Russia. It provides information about cooperation with Russian institutions, academic work in Russia for visiting researchers from Germany, student exchange, and the various possibilities at Freie Universität.
The liaison office supports the development of Freie Universität's strategic partnership with Saint Petersburg State University, and the university's cooperative relationships with the Moscow State Institute for International Relations - MGIMO (University), the Higher School of Economics in Moscow, Lomonosov Moscow State University, and the Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University.
In addition to numerous individual scientific contacts, the mainstays of the strategic partnership are the German-Russian Interdisciplinary Science Center, the St. Petersburg participation in the University Alliance for Sustainability, the dual degree master’s program “Global Communication and International Journalism,” and project initiatives within the framework of the first joint German-Russian Joint Seed Money Program, as well as an active exchange of scientists and several student exchange programs.
In these activities the liaison office works closely with other German research organizations and intermediaries in Russia, the German House of Research and Innovation in Moscow (DWIH Moscow), and Russian institutions across the country.
The liaison office of Freie Universität Berlin in Moscow is located at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). It is directed by Tobias A. Stüdemann, who has had the position since May 2010.
