Hans Freiherr Kress von Kressenstein

The professor of medicine Hans Freiherr Kress von Kressenstein (born December 27, 1902 in Munich; died February 28, 1973 in Berlin) became the rector of Freie Universität on July 20, 1950.

Von Kressenstein studied medicine at the universities of Munich and Freiburg. He became a lecturer at Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in 1937 and served as a professor at Universität Unter den Linden, in Berlin, from 1947 to 1948. Von Kressenstein was the first dean of medicine at the university and one of its founding professors. His term as rector of Freie Universität lasted until 1952.
