Quality Management in Teaching Activities
Since 2001, Freie Universität Berlin has utilized the Bologna process, which is aimed at standardizing academic degrees throughout Europe, to introduce a comprehensive quality assurance system. The chief factor in the development, introduction, and design of study programs is the perspective of students. For example, detailed surveys of bachelor’s students were conducted in 2006, 2008, and 2010 to find out their opinions on study conditions at the university. The results of these studies have been used to overhaul the university’s academic programs.
An independent research group was set up at the Department of Education and Psychology as part of the university’s systematic efforts toward quality assurance and quality development in the areas of teaching and learning.
