If you did not receive the admission letter because of the postal strike please go to the online portal Bewerberinfo der Freien Universität Berlin and click at “Claim - admission” to see the decision about your admission. If the field “Admission” shows “Yes” you can fill out the enrollment application form for registration. You do not need to attach the copy of the admission letter.
Your completed Enrollment Application, if you are not yet enrolled at Freie Universität Berlin.a) If you are already enrolled at Freie Universität Berlin and wish to change programs, please use the Application to Change Programs (skip 13, 14, 15 and 16.)
Officially certified copy of your university entrance qualification (Abitur or equivalent), along with an official translation if your university entrance qualification document was issued in any language other than German or English
If applicable, officially certified copy of proof of activities relevant to your studies, if you have stated anything regarding such activities in your online application
If applicable, last enrollment certificate from a German university, stating the course of study and all semesters within the subject (Fachsemester) and total semesters of higher education (Hochschulsemester) completed to date (if you have ever been enrolled at a German higher education institution)
If applicable, earlier admission notification and an officially certified copy of your military recommendation if you have sought preferential admission
If applicable, officially certified copy of your earlier degree or certificate if you wish to enroll in a program toward a second degree, a master’s degree, or a doctorate, along with an official translation if your degree or certificate was issued in any language other than German or English
Having been admitted within the contingent for minors (indicated by the number 15 next to the barcode on the notice of admission): officially certified copy of the registration certificate on your principal residence at a custodial person (e.g. parent, guardian) at application time. If applicable, proof(s) of academic or professional reasons for taking up undergraduate studies (first semester), in case you have completed your 55th year of age
If applicable, officially certified copy of language certificate if your language skills are not shown in your certificate of eligibility for university study
If applicable, officially certified copy of proof of sufficient knowledge of German (DSH, TestDaF) if you have a foreign certificate of eligibility for university study
If applicable, copy of the certificate regarding credit for previous studies, issued by the appropriate board of examiners/department representative
Proof of health insurance for the university or a copy of a certificate of exemption from compulsory coverage from a German statutory health insurance provider (chip card or member ID is not sufficient).
1. Admitted applicants from other countries in the EU who submit enrollment applications from their home countries are required to have a separate certificate of insurance issued by a German statutory health insurer, such as AOK Nordost. To do this, please scan your EU health insurance card (your name and the expiration date must be clearly visible) and the main page of your passport and send the images to the following e-mail address:email@example.com . AOK will send the certificate of insurance to you directly so that you can enclose it with your enrollment documents. In addition, please enclose a copy of your insurance card. You can also have this certificate of insurance issued by any other German statutory health insurer.
2. Admitted applicants from countries outside the EU are generally required to present proof of private health insurance from their home countries to receive a visa. You can, however, also obtain insurance as a student after entering Germany. Please be sure to explore your available options beforehand. Further information is available here, for example.
A copy of a valid form of identification (e. g., passport or ID) verifying your complete surname, first name, date of birth, address and expiration date. You are permitted to black out sections that are irrelevant to the proof of your identity. The copy´s sole purpose is to verify your identity and to protect you from potential identity theft. Once your enrollment is completed this copy is immediately destroyed.
If applicable, copy of your certificate of withdrawal or other removal from the student register (Exmatrikulationsbescheinigung) of the last (German) university attended
If applicable, copy of your passport and valid visa for the specific program or "for university study" if you are not a German citizen. You can make a appointment with the Foreigner´s Authority Berlin online.
copy of bank statement or transfer voucher for semester dues/fees and the semester ticket transportation pass made out to the account of Freie Universität Berlin (also see Enrollment Application and fees and contributions)

For admission-free bachelor’s degree programs different application and admission processes as well as admission periods exist. Please note below-mentioned information. Having applied for a limited program, please await the decision before you apply for enrollment into a program without admission requirements.
For admission-free Single-subject bachelor’s degree programs for the first or higher semeser prospective students with German higher education entrance qualifications (regardless of nationality), can apply directly here within the given deadline without submitting an application.
Please apply for online enrollment for study programms with free admission for the winter semester 2016/17 from August 1, 2016 to September 8, 2016. Please note that the signed enrollment form will become effective only if the form is received within the given admission period.
All those interested in admission-free combination bachelor’s degree programs with free admission in core subject (Kernfach) and module (Modulangebot), please fill out the online application for bachelor. Please note the different application period until July 15, 2016.
If you obtained a Non-German general university entrance qualification (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung), please apply for admission-free bachelor’s degree programs via uni-assist within the below-mentioned application periods.
All those interested in admission-free Single-subject bachelor’s degree programs for the first or higher semester, please apply for the winter semester 2016 from August 1, 2016 to September 8, 2016.

If you have applied via uni-assist for Freie Universität Berlin, officially certified copies of the qualifications that you have submitted already when applying, are not required.
Those with professional qualifications having higher education entrance qualifications associated with a specific subject (fachgebundene Hochschulzugangsberechtigung) are requested to get further information here as the application deadline can differ.
The registration may be requested by post after successful testing of the entry requirements upon presentation of the notification of admission. The application for registration can be found here.

Your enrollment is subject to a limited term until specific requirements have been met (foreign language courses required before beginning your program, preparatory course (Studienkolleg), studies of the subject on the condition that you attend German courses at the same time, exchange program).
Students who primarily attend a different higher education institution are required to present proof of enrollment at the other institution and module admission in order to enroll at Freie Universität Berlin. When re-registering for the each subsequent semester, these students are required to present a certificate of enrollment for the subsequent semester as proof of re-registration at their primary higher education institution until 31st of March or 30th of September.
If the student primarily attends Freie Universität Berlin and attends the other institution for a module or partial program, must be presented a certificate of enrollment with an indication of the current semester within the specific subject to the other institution before the re-registration deadline.
Those who have completed a stay at Freie Universität Berlin as exchange students or recipients of scholarships or grants and wish to continue studying at the university must apply for impacted programs (programs with restricted admissions) regardless of the studies they have already completed, and must provide proof that they meet the abovementioned requirements (including notification of admission and DSH or TestDaF certificate).
Some few applicants are still required to apply for enrollment in person, meaning that they are not eligible to enroll by mail. Those who are unable to enroll in person may appoint another person to serve as proxy. The proxy must be able to identify him- or herself and must present the enrollment application along with a written power of attorney (Vollmacht) showing the date, signature, and the term for which the power of attorney applies, as well as all documents required in the individual case, at the student records and registration office.
